The Harris Assessment of Typology (HAT) is a rigorous, psychometric and analytical standard that gives test takers in-depth and advanced insights into their learning behaviors and fundamental development. Jerome K. Harris III designed the system to provide targeted insights of individuals, in order to aid in educational, professional, and personal outcomes. The foundation of the assessment is based on three established scientific, psychological standards: The Big 5 OCEAN standard, FACES IV, and Jung Typology, along with a new proprietary standard developed by Jerome K. Harris III. Harris led an international team of psychologists, psychometricians, and data scientists through the development of HAT, in order to maintain scientific validity and integrity for the protocol. Harris designed the new psychological standard in order to best assess personal well-being, as a pretense for evaluating ethical, career, and educational development, predicating, "If a student's well-being is compromised, their entire existence is threatened, not to mention their ability to learn, which is essential in their ability to overcome adversity and accomplish their goals." Harris created extensive academic measures, protocols, and technological systems in order to maximize the efficiency of the overall HAT system.
The HAT has four forms, tailored to achieve different outcomes:
